WHAT IS SPINAL DECOMPRESSION?
Decompression Explained
Decompression relieves pressure that builds up on the discs and nerves. The task of
relieving pain comes about as a result of drawing areas of herniated disc back into
place. It also sucks vital fluid and nutrients back into the disc to re-hydrate and re-
nourish it.
Decompression achieves this by creating negative pressure within the disc, referred
to as negative intra-discal pressure. This creates essentially a vacuum to draw the
bulging and herniated disc material back into the disc space and relieve pressure.
As the ligaments that hold disc material in place become stretched or torn due to
bulging and herniation, decompression strengthens the ligament bands that hold
the disc material in place to heal and prevent future recurrence.
In most cases the healing process requires only a few weeks of treatment on an out-
patient basis. We have committed to undergo expert training in the delivery of
decompression and dedicate a large portion of our practice to the relief of severe
and chronic lower back and neck pain. Patients come to us to return to a normal
pain-free life.
RESEARCH STUDIES
Serial MRI of 20 patients treated with the decompression table shows in our study up
to 90% reduction of subligamentous nucleus herniation in 10 of 14. Some
rehydration occurs detected by T2 and proton density signal increase. Torn annulus
repair is seen in all."
Eyerman, Edward MD. Simple pelvic traction gives inconsistent relief to herniated
lumbar disc sufferers. Journal of Neuroimaging. Paper presented to the American
Society of Neuroimaging, Orlando, Florida 2-26-98.
"Eighty-six percent of ruptured intervertebral disc (RID) patients achieved 'good' (50-
89% improvement) to 'excellent' (90-100% improvement) results with decompression.
Sciatica and back pain were relieved." "Of the facet arthrosis patients, 75%
obtained 'good' to 'excellent' results with decompression."

"Results showed that 86% of the 219 patients who completed the therapy reported
immediate resolution of symptoms, while 84% remained pain-free 90 days post-
treatment. Physical examination findings showed improvement in 92% of the 219
patients, and remained intact in 89% of these patients 90 days after treatment."

"All but two of the patients in the study improved at least 30% or more in the first
three weeks.""Utilizing the outcome measures, this form of decompression reduces
symptoms and improves activities of daily living."

FAQ’s
Question: What is the Spinal Decompression program?
Answer: It is an effective spinal rehabilitation program for severe conditions of the
lower back and neck. The program consists of FDA-cleared Non-Surgical spinal
Decompression therapy focused on decompressing the spinal discs to reverse high
amounts of pressure built up in the discs to take pressure off the nerves.
Question: What kind of conditions does Spinal decompression treat?
Answer: Disc problems of many varieties such as bulging discs, herniated or
ruptured discs, degenerated discs, sciatica, facet joint arthrosis, stenosis, and mild
spondylolisthesis.
Question: What are my chances for success?
Answer: Very high actually. Our clinic only accepts patient we truly feel we can
help. If is determined that you are not a candidate for Spinal Decompression, we
will refer you to the appropriate type of doctor.
Question: Does insurance cover the procedure?
Answer: Since every patient has different types of insurance with varying coverage,
what we will do is verify your insurance coverage if we determine if you are a
candidate for the procedure.
Question: If I don't have insurance, are payment plans available?

Question: How long does the treatment take?
Answer: Each treatment session requires 45 minutes on average. The average
length of time a patient is under care ranges from 4-6 weeks.
Question: Does the treatment offer a permanent relief?
Answer: Our approach is to bring you long lasting relief so you do not have to
return. In some very sever cases, we may recommend periodic follow up
maintenance.
Question: What kinds of conditions are NOT treatable with Spinal Decompression?
Answer: Osteomalacia, osteomyelitis, ankylosing sponylitis, spinal fractures, cancer,
tumors, and unstable sponylolisthesis.
Question: What if I already had surgery?
Answer: We have successfully treated many patients that have already undergone
surgery. Depending on the nature of the surgery, that would be considered on an
individual basis.
Question: When can I get started?
